What is GreenDrive Technology?
GreenDrive Technology is an innovative, patented retrofit system developed by Saarthi GreenTech that integrates seamlessly with existing diesel engines. It uses distilled/DM water to produce a low-pressure hydrogen-oxygen (HHO) blend, optimizing fuel combustion, reducing emissions, and improving fuel efficiency—without requiring any engine modifications.
How does GreenDrive differ from hydrogen fuel cells or pure hydrogen engines?
- No High-Pressure Hydrogen Storage: GreenDrive generates hydrogen-oxygen gas on demand at ultra-low pressure (0.05 bar), eliminating the need for dangerous, high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks.
- No New Vehicle Required: Unlike fuel cell or hydrogen-powered vehicles, GreenDrive retrofits existing diesel vehicles, providing an immediate solution to reduce emissions from millions of vehicles already on the road.
- Cost-Effective: GreenDrive is a simpler and more affordable solution compared to hydrogen fuel cell or EV technologies.
What types of vehicles can GreenDrive be installed on?
GreenDrive is compatible with a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles, including:
- Long-haul trucks and buses
- Delivery trucks and logistics fleets
- Agricultural equipment like tractors
- Mining and construction machinery
- Marine vessels
- Industrial diesel generators
What are the potential fuel savings with GreenDrive?
Depending on the vehicle type, driving conditions, and load, GreenDrive can deliver fuel savings of up to 40%. Savings may vary due to factors like speed, maintenance, road conditions, and tuning of the system. To know how your vehicles respond to GreenDrive, you may conduct a trial and come to your own conclusions.
How does GreenDrive improve emission reductions?
GreenDrive enhances the combustion process, leading to:
- Up to 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions
- Significant reductions in NOx and particulate matter
- Cleaner engine operation, resulting in lower soot and smoke output
How safe is GreenDrive Technology?
GreenDrive operates at ultra-low pressure (0.05 bar) and produces small amounts of HHO gas on demand, ensuring safety. It uses distilled/DM water and the vehicle’s battery power, making it a risk-free and environmentally friendly solution.
How is GreenDrive powered?
GreenDrive uses the vehicle’s existing 24V battery system to power its operations, requiring no external energy sources. This ensures it integrates seamlessly with your vehicle without additional infrastructure.
How long does the system run on 1 liter of water?
GreenDrive consumes approximately:
- 1 liter of distilled/DM water for every 4 to 15 hoursof engine operation, depending on the engine size and load.
What is required to maintain GreenDrive?
GreenDrive is designed to be low-maintenance. Regular checks involve:
- Ensuring the water tank is filled with distilled/DM water.
- Monitoring through the IoT-enabled system for system performance and alerts.
- Minimal servicing as recommended by Saarthi GreenTech.
How is GreenDrive monitored?
GreenDrive comes with IoT-enabled monitoring and CAN data interface. Users can track real-time fuel savings, emissions reductions, and system health through detailed analytics and performance insights.
What are the key disclaimers for fuel savings and emission reduction?
Fuel and emission savings depend on several factors, including:
- Load, speed, and driving conditions
- Road and weather conditions
- Maintenance and proper tuning of the GreenDrive system
Saarthi GreenTech provides an indicative range of savings but acknowledges that real-world results may vary.
How long does it take to install GreenDrive?
GreenDrive is a plug-and-play retrofit system that typically takes a few hours to install, ensuring minimal downtime for your fleet.
Can GreenDrive be used in extreme weather conditions?
Yes. GreenDrive is tested to perform under a variety of conditions, including:
- High temperatures
- Cold weather
- Elevations and varying terrains
Is GreenDrive certified?
GreenDrive is patented and rigorously tested for safety and performance. Saarthi GreenTech is actively working with regulatory authorities like ARAI and other bodies to establish certifications for specific applications and geographies.
Can GreenDrive be customized for specific industries or needs?
Yes. Saarthi GreenTech works closely with customers to develop custom solutions for unique applications in industries like agriculture, marine, construction, and OEM collaborations.
How does GreenDrive support sustainability goals?
By reducing fuel consumption and emissions, GreenDrive helps industries achieve:
- Significant CO₂ reductions
- Lower operational costs
- Compliance with global sustainability targets, including net-zero goals
What is the ROI on GreenDrive?
GreenDrive delivers rapid ROI by combining fuel savings, emission reductions, and lower maintenance costs. The exact ROI depends on usage, load conditions, and fuel costs. Please contact us to get best offers and ROI analysis for your fleet.

Why do we need only Distilled or DM water for operating the GreenDrive system?
The GreenDrive system is designed to operate exclusively with distilled or DM (Deionized) water because tap water or ground water contains minerals, salts, and other impurities that can damage the gas generation system. These impurities can corrode the electrolyser plates, reduce efficiency, and ultimately compromise the performance and durability of the system.
To ensure the system's long life and optimal performance, GreenDrive is equipped with advanced sensors that detect water quality. If impure water is detected, the system will block its operation and prompt a warning. The water tank will need to be completely flushed and cleaned before the system can be restarted.
This protective arrangement not only safeguards the system but also upholds its reliability. Please note that warranty terms clearly state that using impure water voids the warranty, as this could lead to irreparable damage to the system. Always use distilled or DM water for best results and to maintain warranty coverage
Will every vehicle give savings as claimed?
We have rigorously tested the GreenDrive system across a wide variety of diesel vehicles in India and Australia over the years. These tests have consistently shown significant fuel savings and emission reductions across the spectrum of tested vehicles. However, there are certain vehicle makes and BS/EURO emission levels where the system may not deliver the same level of savings.
Our focus so far has been exclusively on diesel-powered vehicles, and for those makes or emission levels where benefits have been limited, we are open to collaborating with OEMs to identify and resolve any issues. GreenDrive’s adaptability and continuous development ensure we are committed to achieving maximum savings for all compatible vehicles.
What are the factors that impact fuel savings even after using GreenDrive Systems?
Fuel savings achieved by the GreenDrive system can vary based on several factors observed during our extensive testing. These include:
- Fuel Pilferage: A major factor that can mask actual savings, especially in commercial fleet operations.
- Weather Conditions: Variations in temperature and air density can impact fuel efficiency, with colder temperatures generally requiring more fuel.
- Road Conditions: Smooth highways versus uneven or hilly terrains can significantly influence fuel consumption.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Poorly maintained engines or vehicles can reduce the effectiveness of GreenDrive’s enhancements.
- Traffic Conditions: Stop-and-go traffic or frequent idling tends to reduce overall fuel efficiency.
- Driving Style: Aggressive driving, frequent acceleration, or improper gear usage can lower savings.
- Untuned GreenDrive System: Proper tuning of the system is critical to achieve optimal savings and emission reductions.
Addressing these factors can maximize the benefits of the GreenDrive system, ensuring fuel efficiency and emission reductions are consistently delivered.
